Toyota: Take the Wheel

Toyota came to BuzzFeed looking to market the Corolla and RAV4 to 20-something Asian-American self-starters, and encourage them to follow their passion and “take the wheel.” We responded with a successful campaign that included posts, quizzes and videos that focused on art, comedy, and identity.

We interviewed up-and-coming Asian-American chefs about what inspired them and how they turned their passions into careers.

We talked to productivity experts about ways to break through creative blocks.

Young promising artists talked to us about their art, their communities, and their inspirations.

We challenged our most type-A, perfectionist, self-starting creative producer to celebrate Halloween a week early and she rose (from the grave) to the occasion.

OK, it wouldn’t be a BuzzFeed campaign without a quiz, so we crunched the ~ highly scientific ~ data to calculate ~ scientifically ~ whether your true calling is musician, dog-walker, wizard, or something entirely different. Again, we used science. Don’t @ me.

Tasty Date Night: Couples Compete in the Crab Tostada Challenge

Funny story about this one. I thought I had volunteered my wife and myself to taste test new recipes (Toyota always asked us to pitch them food content; I’m not sure why), but the video staff surprised me and it turned out we had volunteered for a competitive cooking show.
